MEDITECH Scheduler Options for CS 5.6

Joanne asks:

I was looking for more information on the use of Start Within Hours and Reschedule Mode and also on how Unique works when downloading a report, if I downloaded the report using Unique to the same folder each day would the report be unique for each day?

MEDITECH KB

I answer:

[File Naming]
The unique file name option, appends a date-time stamp to the file name.

[Reschedule Mode]
Enter one of the following to determine how the system handles reports that cannot run within their scheduled time.
– A (Always) the report is ALWAYS rescheduled for the (for the next occurrence) same time, one day later. If second version of the report is scheduled within 24 hours, both reports are produced. (Ex. If a report is scheduled to run Mon and Fri and it can’t run on Mon, on Fri there will be two reports.)
– S (Supersede) the report is rescheduled to run 24 hours later. However, if a second occurrence is scheduled to run within the 24-hour period, only the latest occurrence runs.
– N (Never) the report is never rescheduled.

[Start Within Hours]
I usually default 0.2 for the Start Within Hours field. If the report is not run at the scheduled time, MEDITECH will try to run it every 0.2 hours or 12 minutes. If you enter a 1 for the Start Within Hours field; the scheduler will try to run the report every hour.

Comments

I have found that the start within hours field applies to system downtime and late starts of scheduled items. For instance, if you schedule a report at 1400 to run at 1300 with a 2 hour start within the report will run at 1400 the first time and 1300 going forward. If MEDITECH goes down and is unavailable the next day at 1300 but is back online at 1445 the report will still run at 1445 but would be skipped with a smaller start within time.
