This morning, the server I'm using for a historical Meditech extract was running out of disk space fast. This extract has been running for 4 days from a very large BAR database on Client Server 5.6. During this time the destination file has been steadily growing to 4.4 GB.
The server team identified c:\program files\meditech\print\cs print spool\ as the folder containing 9.9+ GB of data. This spool folder was chock full of 34 KB files. Since the destination file is growing, I'm making the assumption that most of these files aren't needed anymore. I'm deleting all files generated before this morning.
After purging these files, the extract continues to run, the destination file continues to grow and disk space has been restored.
The fact these files were not locked, gives me the feeling that this was the right decision. I'll let you know how the rest of this saga plays out when the extract completes.
