Purging Temporary Spool Files on MEDITECH CS 5.6

Today - one of my large historical extracts from earlier in the week completed.  I was concerned that clearing the 34 KB files, consuming drive space, might result in negative consequences.  However, Meditech cleaned up the files when the report completed; and left only these files remaining.

Print Temporary Spool Files

If we ever need to run large extracts on the CS 5.6 platform, we can:
  1. Ensure there is adequate disk space on the pc or server where the extract is to be run.  Interim temp files seem to take up more disk space than the destination file does; plan accordingly.
  2. Monitor drive space to ensure the machine does not crash, due to inadequate disk space.
  3. If you predict an extract may consume more disk space than available, delete the oldest 34 KB files on a daily basis to free up disk resources.
